Description:
Canadian Western Bank serves the needs of Western Canada by
providing sound financial services, innovative and well-priced
loan arrangements, and highly competitive rates and features on
deposit products. Being western-based makes us more aware of our
stake in the community. Being smaller makes us more focussed on
personal service and decentralized decision making.
Created by federal charter on April 29, 1988, the Bank is the
product of the amalgamation of Bank of Alberta (chartered 1984)
and Western & Pacific Bank of Canada (chartered 1982).
On December 31, 1994, North West Trust Company (chartered 1911
and active since 1958) was amalgamated with the Bank. In early
1996 the Bank acquired the former Aetna Trust Company of
Vancouver, which is now a wholly owned subsidiary known as
Canadian Western Trust.
Canadian Western Bank (CWB) is listed on the Toronto, Alberta,
and Vancouver Stock exchanges.
