Description:
Our mission statement is to put an end to the oppression of, discrimination towards, poverty and violence undergone by Indigenous women in Saskatchewan by building a foundation for collective action among those with a vested interest in the empowerment of Indigenous women.
Women are becoming more visible, but the challenges they face continue from day to day. We live in a male-dominated society and the role of Indigenous women in our society has been forgotten. The womens role is so important to the survival of our people that they should never be disrespected, shunned, abused or silenced.
It is our position that our strength is in numbers where one voice is lost in the crowd, many voices are the crowd. Regina Indigenous Women Inc. intends to rally provincial and federal governments for increased funding for culturally sensitive, gender specific programming in order to assist other Indigenous womens organization and support groups throughout the city of Regina.
